Do Wearing School Uniforms Curtail Our Freedom?

There are many people who oppose the idea of students wearing school uniforms. They feel that the students are curtailed of their freedom to express themselves. They say that having strict dress codes is not a means to stop violence or maintaining discipline in campus. Making students wear the same dress would make the students feel awkward. As students who are in school uniforms throughout the working days in a week, it gives them only less chance to wear other casual dresses and as a result most of these dresses become waste and it is all loss of money for the parents.
Some students do not like to come in school uniforms as they feel that it doesn’t suit them and they may not be ready to accept the fact that all students wear the same. But all these ideas against uniforms may be true only to a smaller extent. Generally, we cannot say it curtails our freedom. Even when buying uniforms, we can go for the best materials and come out neatly dressed and a bit fashionable also. In a sense, it only helps in developing a sense of oneness among students who may be from different strata of society.
